If you hear clicking and see sparks as you turn the burner knob and can smell that gas is flowing okay but the fire won t ignite it s possible that the gas feed is clogged. Cut the gas and power to the stove remove the burner cap and use a screwdriver or hex driver to disconnect the burner base.

Then simply remove the burner heads and caps from all burners clean them out using a mild detergent and water. Disconnect the wires coming from the igniter. If you find that your gas stove won t stop clicking it s possible that the burner cap isn t positioned correctly on the burner head. Believe it or not quite frequently the reason your stove won t light is due to faulty electrodes or a dirty burner cap.

This makes for an easy fix. Surface burners on a gas range need to be maintained in order to function properly. This is a super quick and easy fix simply lift off the grate make sure it s cool to the touch take off the burner cap and lift the burner out from the range.
